Xueling Zou, is an award-winning, Chinese American self-taught artist living in California, from an artist family in Beijing. Passion for art, painting by heart from studio to outdoors, she creates visual stories in oil and watercolor using composition, color, and form inspired by different cultures, literature and nature. Her works have been exhibited nationally and collected internationally. Drawing on influences of great masters from history to the present, with simplicity of brushstrokes or palette knife, her contemporary impressionist portraits, figurative paintings, Plein Air landscapes of California, express the humanity and life experience in special moments - the stories of our lives. This wonderfully composed piece has an interesting abstract quality to it, with the contrast between the transiting moon and subtle clouds against the solid fortress like structure - Thank you Xueling for your comments on my drawing of 'Michelangelo's Dawn',....Chris R

Thank you Ana! You are absolutely right! The sun is and was always so important in all the civilizations for sure! The stone was curved by coping exactly the same shape of a distant mountain facing the same direction. I felt the power of the energy when I was there, amazing!!

What a wonderful photo, Xueling... I don't if what i know it is correct, but in the inca civilization, Sun was a very important god ... I'm not very sure...... Ana
